I love this graphical style and I wish the animation could also look this way. Mushka is already an awesom step in this direction, but I keep thinking how could watercolor paint be animated - seems almost impossible to paint consistently over several frames, but the look is just gorgeous!
Do you know what Glen Keane is doing? I haven't seen much from him lately, I think I saw part of a short he consulted on. I didn't know if he was working on any other projects or if he was retired. Not sure if you keep in touch.
Nice fun painting. I am sure that it brought back memories of working the film. L&S is my niece's favorite. I love the musicality of your painting and it reminds of how well all the Elvis songs fit into the film. Fun!
Andreas, did you know Chris Sanders very well? I heard he left Disney for Dreamworks (and directed How to Train Your Dragon) after his American Dog couldn't work out its story problems and later became Bolt.
beautiful i think it already is a classic ! i have to say its my personal favorite of the moderner Disney films :)
ReplyDeleteIch finde schön, wie sich die Figuren vom Hintergrund abheben :)

It certainly already is a classic to many animation fans.

Great painting! The colors are especially fun and cheery. :D
ReplyDeleteHow long does something like this take for you?
Finding good poses and getting the composition right takes a little time. Tying it down and adding color goes pretty quickly.
