That's not only the title of a great new book by Pete Docter and Don Peri, it is also the latest special exhibition at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco.
Get your copy of the book at Amazon, the exhibition will run until March 16... so hurry!
During my visit to the Museum last weekend I took these fun pics.
Director Clyde Geronimi discusses the storyboard for Casey at the Bat with Ollie Johnston. 1946
Milt Kahl and actor Bobby Driscoll plan a live action scene with director Wilfred Jackson for Peter Pan.
Geronimi again with singer songwriter and voice talent Peggy Lee during production of Lady & the Tramp.

Andreas - I sat next to you at the Reitherman presentation, which was amazing. You were talking with Pete Doctor and Don Peri a row in front of us, so I did not want to interrupt your discussion to say hello. But, I will take this time now to tell you how much I have enjoyed your work, your books, your curated exhibits, and your presentations at the Walt Disney Family Museum. I hope everyone can see "Directing at Disney" at the museum and purchase the book, which is just superb. My one question is when will I get to see your recent film in Santa Rosa, California? My best regards to you.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this book, there are some great information and things I didn't know. One thing that I was shocked to learn was about Gerry Geronimi and how hated he was by the animators and the funny thing is that most of my favorite sequences in Disney Animation was directed by him! Interesting also to know that he was born in Italy and came to the US as a child.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this! ive got the book as well, and still reading through it... its such a fantastic overview of how things evolved at disney during the ages... such a fascinating read!
