I am experimenting again with the idea of drawing wildlife from documentary film footage. Let's face it, you will never be able to witness a scene like this one in the wild. When you study film footage, you can select the frame that "does it for you". Drama, staging, mood etc.
I don't recommend this type of reference for beginners. You need to start with zoo visits and witness REAL animals in front of you. That's a MUST! Qnce you have spent some time doing this, you can move on to photographic and film reference.
There are SOOO many extraordinary wildlife videos on Youtube, it's almost overwhelming.Take your pick.
Lovely drawing!! With all your experience drawing big cats, do you think you really need a reference? Have you tried not using one? Like how Milt Kahl apparently didnt use a ref footage for Medusa...

...Direkt beim Zoobesuch Tiere zu skizzieren finde ich schwierig. Mitunter kann es bei so einen Besuch zugehen wie im Louvre, wo es so voll und unruhig ist, dass die Tiere sich gestresst verstecken, um nicht gesehen zu werden oder der Andrang so stark ist, dass du ständig agerempelt wirst. Ich habe sehr viel Respekt vor Künstler, denen es überhaupt nichts ausmacht, wenn ihnen beim Zeichnen auf die Finger gekuckt wird! 👍😃
