Brer Rabbit is one of my favorite characters to draw and though I've collected quite a few model sheets and pieces of concept art, I've never seen that bottom picture. Very inspiring! His drawings are strong and dynamic, but very simple too, with a mid century cleanliness to them. Oh and every witch in his stories looks like Madam Mim!

I've often wondered if Disney or anyone else had ever thought to mine his bibliography for ideas for animated films. I wonder what everyone was like working on its brother, "So Dear to my Heart" because the lamb and owl characters are no Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox or Brer Bear...Dan Sicilianohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13731812393720768846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2565467389318493488.post-85945990358587074022013-06-05T14:03:56.350-07:002013-06-05T14:03:56.350-07:00I still have my Japanese LaserDisc!I still have my Japanese LaserDisc!Chris Sobieniakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09838106041175506925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2565467389318493488.post-82576348909315147772013-06-05T03:46:29.310-07:002013-06-05T03:46:29.310-07:00Thanks, yes i´ve noticed that, have to watch that....Thanks, yes i´ve noticed that, have to watch that. :)Markus Lehtokumpuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05911725197158241178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2565467389318493488.post-76957159921022575072013-06-05T03:20:57.663-07:002013-06-05T03:20:57.663-07:00You can watch a low quality version on Youtube. The user posts on the internet are the only ways that many of us are able to see Song of the South now, outside of our faded VHS tapes.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09602211452811328898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2565467389318493488.post-44896520543553381222013-06-05T03:11:48.536-07:002013-06-05T03:11:48.536-07:00Great pictures. All other Disney classics are there on DVD/Blu-Ray. Maybe have to order from Amazon, if just find that with right area code.

Oh.. there´s a book "Who's Afraid of the Song of the South?
