More Fritz Hug Animals
Time for another post featuring one of my favorite animal artists, Fritz Hug. Both his sketchy as well as his more rendered work show this man's passion for animals. Mammals, birds, even insects are fascinating to him, and he succeeds in finding poses and expressions that reveal the animal's particular characteristic and personality.
You'll find quite a few posts with art from this Swiss artist on this blog, here is the link to the first one:

ReplyDeleteI believe so.
DeleteI don't know if it's paint or watercolour, did some artistes yous watercolour on Bambi and Snow White in the 40's
DeleteHi
DeleteAndreas, my question is do you think people can draw a Deer like Bambi with golden horns a fantasy like Tolkien what do you think if there's a young Elfe warrior who is riding on a Deer, some kind of horse back on the field.
The 1st rooster is NOT watercolour but an off set print. Interesting to know that he never made classic litho prints from lime stone. He sketched/inked with Litho ink on acrylic transparent sheets - reserving space for other colours - sometimes up to a dozen sheets for each print colour. The sheets were drawn from photocopied stencils. This allowed nearly unlimited print orders. In this technique he was a genious. Most of his so made prints are reproductions of orginal oil paintings.
DeleteThe fighting roosters are a originally oil on canvas. But the photo has been heavily retouched before publishing in the book.
If you have any questions concerning the art and life of Fritz Hug do not hesitate to contact me. I am working together with a friend who owns hundreds of Hug prints, posters, paintings and drawings on a catalogue of works.
