A beautiful Heinrich Kley ink drawing, with the translated title Silver Wedding Anniversary. It is currently for sale here:

The thing with Kley is that his work doesn't get old. It is timeless because of his astounding draughtsmanship and his sense for comedy. He really should have worked for Walt Disney.
I don’t understand your comment. Kley made great images because he was not in an industry. He drew what he liked when he liked.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the point of Andreas' comment is just that a Disney production would have greatly benefited from this artist's skills, and not the other way around. Hypothetically speaking, he would have brought a lot of value to he table.
DeleteI do see what you mean, though.
OK, from Disney’s point of view.
DeleteFor any other Kley fan readers out there, I really enjoyed Marshall Vandruff's lectures based on Kley https://marshallart.gumroad.com/l/xllse?layout=profile
ReplyDeleteMarcello Vignali has a shorter one too https://vignalistudio.gumroad.com/l/qszjmz
I don't know if the the production team of Inside Out known this drawing of Kley...It reminds of ... 😆
ReplyDeleteI had not seen this particular Kley illustration before despite my efforts to gobble up everything of his on-line. I'm not sure what it is about his style and whimsy that so appeals. Thank you!
