A few years ago, after I had finished work on "Bambi 2", I did a wire sculpture of that character and gave it to animation director/story artist extraordinaire Brian Pimental as a thank you gesture for having me be a part of the production.
From all the wire sculptures I have done this one is the most unsteady and wobbly.
I tried to use as little wire as possible, I wanted to get to a certain simplicity and elegance.
Maybe one of my better ones.
Wow! That is too cool! The hair and spot details are awesome. Great job!
ReplyDeleteNice to see some of your own work.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a three dimensional sketch. Marvelous!
When will you show us some of the progress made on short about a girl and her tiger?
3-dimensionality really cool(like a line drawing that's been thrust out the paper!), especially in legs and head when it turns. Did you consider it from principally one angle or constantly re-mould from various perspectives?
ReplyDeleteI love the ears! Perfectly Bambi.
ReplyDeleteLovely and amazing.
ReplyDeleteIs it always on that turntable, so Brian can just press a button and watch it rotate when he wants? That seems like the best way to showcase sculpture, but I'd never considered it before.
spectacular!!!
ReplyDeleteReally fabulous Andreas - beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteSweet 3D Bambi! Superb work!
ReplyDeleteExtraordinarily attractive work of art. You've captured Marc Davis' beautiful Bambi and made it your own - in three dimensions. Congratulations on the work of delicacy.
ReplyDeleteIt's just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou can really feel the depth of his body.
amazing.

Seeing it from all sides is incredible. Least lines possible for a sculpt, what a feat. I think your the first one filming and posting a wire live action turn around Andreas. More pls.
ReplyDeleteWhat!? *o*
ReplyDeleteYou sure know how to wield 'line'.... be it pencil or wire!! How is it I can feel so much volume in something that has no volume at all..... great stuff.
That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! These wire sculptings looks like fun to try out.
ReplyDeleteI just love how the lines work in all angles, especially the head.
ReplyDeleteSurprising plasticity!
ReplyDeleteBeautifull... I´ve done little tests, but got to do more, real 3D characters.
ReplyDeleteBambi suits being wobbly and unsteady
ReplyDeleteThis is insane, wow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Andreas.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a pleasure to get the opportunity to work with you on this film
Wow, really wonderful. I love how it has this sweet delicacy – I think any art made with wire is fascinating and would absolutely love to see more like this!
ReplyDeleteIncredible and inspiring Andreas.
ReplyDeleteI've seen stills of this somewhere before. Great to have a video of it showing the 3D aspect.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely piece! I love how good it looks from all angles.
ReplyDeletePS. Bambi 2 was so great. You did a great job with it. Out of all the Disney sequels I think it is by far the best. Its so well done. After I saw that film and watched all the special features, I was very inspired.
I loved this Andreas, you´re very good in wire sculpture...Amazing...thanks for share this incredible work!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat scenes did you actually animate on in Bambi 2? Fantastic sculpture by the way.
ReplyDelete....Woah ..... thats amazeing exspecialy seeing it on a turn around ..wow dumbfounded its really beautiful
ReplyDeleteIt's really neat to see one of these "in the round!"
ReplyDeleteHow do you think of these while you're sculpting them? I can't begin to wrap my head around sculpture. It seems like a 3D gesture in a lot of ways.
Una pieza de arte bellÃsima, muchas felicidades Andreas!
ReplyDeleteman that looks magical.
ReplyDeleteGenial!!
ReplyDeleteIt remember me the Picasso's drawing mades in a continous line: bull's head, horses...
