Over 50% in Color

We recently hit a milestone on our production of MUSHKA. We have about 16 min. in final color, including effects, highlights, shadows etc. That's more than 1/2 of the 30 min. film.
Color backgrounds with character colors are coming in fast and furious.
I just need to hold on to my recently hired talented BG painters. They both make a difference in speeding up production.
Also, I am looking for a couple of local, seasoned character animators. My footage pay is not top, but nearly top.
I need people who can help to take this project to the finish line. If I have worked with you in the past...great. Just leave your email in the comment section.
Richard Sherman loves our project, so does Kathryn Beaumont as wells as Robert Reitherman.

It's my post Disney statement, and it is very personal.
C'mon and join the MUSHKA Crew.

  1. Hi Andreas, we met a few years back at the Disney studio in Burbank. I am certainly not local (UK) and so am not suitable to offer my services, but I am able to offer a few days' teaching opportunity for you to make a bit of cash to perhaps inject into the project. I only have an old email address, so it'd be great if you could email me at andylatham82@hotmail.com

    Cheers!
    Andy

  3. Hello Mr. Deja - long time admirer, first time commenter! If you have need of animation colourists, please allow me to offer up my services. I have experience of working remotely in animation on James Rogers III's gorgeous short film "Felix", which is currently enjoying success in festivals - I was initially hired as an assistant background artist, but after being impressed by my punctuality and problem-solving abilities, Mr. Rogers assigned me the task of colouring animation towards the end of the production. I enjoyed contributing to an international collaboration very much and would be deeply honoured to build on that success with you.

If you're interested I'd be happy to send you my resume, which includes James Rogers' contact details so he can give a reference. In the mean time, I'll leave you with my showreel (a shot of "Felix" that I coloured and painted the background for can be seen at 0:13) and background art portfolio:

    1. Hey Kat,

I just want to say that it's nice that you brought "Felix" up in your comment because I too worked on that film doing additional animation and inbetweens for Gobelins grad Vivianne Guimaraes in most shots including the one that you've showed on your reel.

Oh, and please let Mr. Deja know that I'm available around next month because I'm planning to get TVPaint around that time. I'll leave these links to my showreel (including a shot in Felix that I helped inbetweened at 0:33) and my portfolio here:

  10. Hi Andreas,
Roberto Gómez from USC here, hope you remember me. I had your old AOL email, so I a while back I asked Tom Sito to forward you a message from me asking if you needed help with your project (as well as sending you the article we did about your visit to the school for your book launch) but I think you never got it. In any case, I'd love to help you if possible, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you get this to the finish line. My email: rgomez@cinema.usc.edu

I dearly miss the 2D animation. Your blog is such a source of happiness and inspiration for me. Peter Pan has always been one of my most profound artistic inspirations. Happy to help.
