I drew this poster for a party in Paris many years ago. (The paper is showing its age). And a great party it was. To be clear: this image of affection between Herc and Gaston is imaginary. There is no doubt that Hercules is pursuing Meg, and Gaston is insisting on marrying Belle.
But it's fun to play around once in a while...
That is indeed fun. Happy Pride Month to you as well Andreas!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pride Month to you!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the drawing. Now that's what you call an odd couple lol
Have you had the chance to watch "Out", from last year? I thought that was quite lovely.
Yes, I saw OUT. It really is lovely!
DeleteBaby steps from major animation studios towards actual positive representation, but we appreciate a good message.
DeleteLove it 💗
ReplyDeleteHappy Pride month, folks!
ReplyDeleteNice guys! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pride Month to you, Mr Deja! :)
I'm so happy to have learned you have a blog, sir! I have recently gotten really into learning about how you and the team do your work after watching many movies with my family. I saw them all as children, but now as an adult I am always curious about what goes into things. You are a really standout animator and I really appreciate not only your animation work but your dedication to sharing information with others. Definitely will check out your Nine Old Men book soon. Just writing to thank you for what you do and to let you know that you stand out in a good way in all those behind the scenes extras.
ReplyDeleteI also never knew about Howard Ashman and I have been very struck by what an amazing storyteller he was. Really glad you guys got to do what you did. It's amazing sharing these classic stories with my own kids now.
I guess a simple kiss won't hurt:)
ReplyDeleteI wonder, do you reference the golden ratio in your drawings?
Or is it just instinctive?
It is instinctive. You develop a gut feeling when a composition looks right or not.

ReplyDeleteMy birthday is the 17th and I've been a lifelong fan of your work (in my mid-30s now and grew up on all the classics, Gaston is my all-time favorite) thank you so much for sharing, it made it an extra special year! :D
