A Visit from Darleen Carr

Some of you might have heard the news that the next grand exhibition at the Walt Disney Family Museum will be: Walt Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK, Making a Masterpiece. I had the honor of guest curating, and the show will open this summer. More details to come.

Recently the lovely Darleen Carr stopped by for an interview about her experience of working on the 1967 animated film. Darleen sang the beautiful song "My Own Home" as the character of the Indian Girl.

It has been a great joy to help put together this extraordinary exhibit...you all have to come and visit!

The catalogue is available for pre-order at Amazon.

And here is the link to a previous post about the "Jungle Girl":

  1. I'm kicking myself that I had a perfect opportunity to visit SF this summer thanks to a business trip, but it recently got cancelled. Argh.
Anyways, it's great that you got the opportunity to work on this and I'm sure it will be great. I hope there will be some opportunities to participate in related events from home, those I won't miss.

  2. Sounds like it will be a great show! I hope its ok to talk about criticisms of The Jungle Book here too. Its certainly a masterpiece in many many regards, but whenever I watch it Im always let down by the third act/climax. The vultures leave a lot to be desired, and feel SO out of place. And the final showdown w Sher Khan is kind of lackluster. Its always made the film as a whole fall a little short for me, when compared to other Disney masterpieces. But the end w the little girl is great. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Anyway Im sure it'll be a fabulous exhibition!

  3. Hey, Andreas, good afternoon, it’s me, Paul. How are you? Tangent: Has somebody been drawing caricatures and gags during the production of Mushka? Just curious. And have a nice day getting that film done.

P.S. Tell Darleen I said she’d done a great job on that Indian Girl.
