The way he had to observe things and take out a completely new interpretation of it, without losing its spirit is simply amazing. I will never complain to see more and more posts about this great master.
I own an original Sullivant 16 x 25in. and am trying to sell it as I have recently lost my job. Any idea what it might be worth or where I could sell it. mulch66@gmail.com
Amazing he started as an artist so late in life! Do you like the Simplicissimus and Jugend artists? I have a run of bound volumes of Simplicissimus and it's like a revelation on every page.
Heh, that zoo monkey was so funny .

ReplyDeleteThe more I see of Sullivant's drawings, the more I wish someone would put together a big book of his work. Seems crazy that one doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteFor the time being though, thank you for this - I'm always returning to your TS Sullivant posts!
Thanks for sharing!Superb...
ReplyDeleteI found a book of his while in college in Belfast in 1995 and to this day couldn't remember his name. thanks Andreas!
