Tomorrow, Saturday October 10, I will be at Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, California. At 4:30 pm I'll start off with a one hour lecture on the work of Disney's Nine Old Men, which will include artwork, pencil tests and archival interviews. Afterwards I will sign copies of my new book. I understand there are still a few spots available. So if you are interested, here is the link to the event:
I am looking forward to seeing some of you there.
I am so excited!! Can't wait for the new book, the lecture and the chance to meet one of animations greatest artists!!!
ReplyDeleteSigh... I already pre-ordered my copy on Amazon! (which still hasn't arrived!!). Oh well. :-(
ReplyDeleteWhen are you coming to NY?
ReplyDeleteIn the same boat as marce82. I preordered months ago, still no book. Not even an idea from Amazon as to when to expect it. Not to impressed with Amazon right now...
ReplyDeleteJim: I got an email from Amazon at the end of september telling me it would arrive sometime between Oct 20th and Nov 20th... no idea why the delay. Had I known Andreas would do a book signing I would have waited!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to receive my signed copy! I would love to go but I live in Barcelona, a bit far :)
ReplyDeleteMarce82 and Jim Atherton--
ReplyDeleteThe exact same thing happened to me too. It's like the Seinfeld bit when he called to reserve a car rental, then arrived to find out that they didn't have a car for him. Odd. But not funny this time.
Marce8 and Jim Atherton.. looking at Amazon it shows that the book will ship in 1 to 2 months. Usually in these cases, its not the retailer, but the publisher not getting the book out in time. However, sometimes the retailer has not ordered enough of the book to supply demand, which is probably the case here. I would suggest looking elsewhere for the book and cancel your Amazon order once you find the book. It looks like the publisher has the book for sale on their website for $44.95 and Barnes & Noble has it for sale on their website as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for such a special event. I'm still walking on air. Make it pink! Make it blue! Ha ha. It was such an intimate event. Your story telling made us laugh, smile, sigh, cry and feel just like little kids again! It was Magic! I cannot put the book down! There are so many lovely sketches I have never seen before. Beautiful photos of the animators. Wonderful writing. What more could you ask for?!!!! <3

ReplyDeleteYou probably get asked to do this all the time, so I apologize, but would you ever consider joining us for a short Skype interview on our podcast, The Mad Chatters? We're fascinated with everything Disney, from the parks to the films to the men and women who have made the company what it is today. With Halloween coming up, we thought it would be fun to speak to someone who has done some villain animation work and learn about that process. I know you've animated your fair share of those evil Disney characters we love to hate. If you'd be willing to talk about your favorites and maybe a few of your techniques, please email me at madchatterderek@yahoo.com. Of course, we'd be willing for you to talk about anything you wanted, in case you wanted the conversation to go a different direction. But either way, thanks so much for staying so dedicated to your blog. It's a fun read, for sure, and we wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteHi Andreas,
