I was recently invited to speak and draw in front of a D23 group. The event took place in the Hyperion building on the Disney Studio lot. I also created a special drawing with a couple of characters I had animated. Above you see my first rough pass of an idea involving Lilo and Scar.
Below is the final version which was printed as a handout to the invited guests. It's fun to goof around sometimes by combining different universes.
Here is the link to another illustration, which combines Lilo and Scar:
I love this idea, with how dramatic each of them are the possibilities of shenanigans are endless!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite character (of those you animated at Disney) that you love to draw? One that just seems to flow from the pencil?
The easy ones to draw are Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit and Jafar. Gaston is tough to draw, so is Hercules.
DeleteHow about a drawing of Scar with Gaston's head mounted on his mantel?
ReplyDeleteAmazing job, greetings from GdaĆsk.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like those shapes still haven't left your mind. Amazing job on both!
ReplyDeleteExcellent.
ReplyDeleteYour rough drawings of big cats are always stunning. Very excited to see how you handle your Tiger
ReplyDeleteAgain, I have this feeling of movement when I look at these drawings. Perhaps it's something about poses, because even the rough drawing plays this trick with my imagination. It feels like Lilo is still straightening her right hand, and turning head left, while Scar appears to be turning right. Or maybe it's achieved by the direction of majority of the lines? I never feel such strong movement in a single frame of other animators, this is so amazing!
ReplyDeleteHello. With the success of your new book, do you have any plans of releasing a book of your art, alone? I sure hope so.

ReplyDeleteAn Excellent idea!!
ReplyDeleteHow about a drawing of Lilo hula dancing with Tigger?
ReplyDeleteI wont lie, I could totally see a cross-over movie with these two. Where like Poachers somehow kidnap Stitch and Lilo and the gang go to rescue him, only to end up in Africa, and Lilo helps "redeem" Scar. I could even seen specific scenes, like one where Scar makes Lilo cry and Stitch does the whole "Ohana means family" scene. Also one where Scar saves Lilo....and maybe Simba, if you bring in the other Lion King staff, and says something like "I may have been a lousy king.....but maybe with this....I could be a good person."
ReplyDeletejust so you know this is circulating on Tumblr with over 71,000 notes because we all love it so much!!
ReplyDeleteI saw this threw Tumblr and I was like this would be an amazing story if you pitched it to Disney. Wonder if they'll take it idk
