Snow White Screening

Tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 21, I will be hosting a screening of Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The screening will begin at 1:30pm, at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatre, which is on 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. This event is part of this weekend's Animation Is Film Festival.

Having known quite a few animators who worked on the film I will talk about their contributions and remembrances of this groundbreaking 80 year old animated movie.

  1. great! I hope you talk will be recorded someway. The festival looks great too, I'm really glad that GKIDS are bringing all these beautiful foreign films into english-speaking territories

  2. Wish I could be there! I love Snow White, but never got a chance to see it oo the big screen, since I was born in 93 and that was the last year the movie went to the theaters here in Brazil. Congratulations for your website, Andreas. I'm such a fan of yours. I always wondered what some of the Nine Old Men like Frank, Ollie and Marc Davis thought about the Renaissance Disney Movies. Not just the animation itself, but also characters, story and songs. Some heroines like Ariel and Jasmine are way more active and their animation a little more sensual. Some plots were more complex and the songs closer to a Broadway-style. I am very curious to learn their opinion about the whole thing, since they worked so close to Walt.

    1. What Would Walt Think? In a 1993 New York Times article, Disney Legend Marc Davis said, “(The classic Disney animated movies made with Walt Disney) were better than anything made by Disney now. Walt would have been critical of the mermaid, of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, of the princess in Aladdin — those girl characters who have fried egg whites around their eyes and lack a subtlety of expression.” You can find the whole article here :
