Animation Master Class in Montreal

I will be in Montreal for a couple days of classes on June 2 and 3.  It will be fun to share my "animated experiences" and cover all aspects of character animation, technical as well as artistic.
Thanks to Samantha Youssef for inviting me.

If you are interested in attending, here is the official link:

    1. I would love to come back to South America sometime. Last time I visited was to promote the movie Hercules.
Perhaps after I finish my short film.

  4. I signed up the week it was announced! :D

It will be an 11 hour drive from Pittsburgh, but worth it I'm sure. I WISH I could afford the life drawing Day 2 class... sigh... but I'll be content with the first half I guess!

I can't wait to meet you and hear all you have to share! As a young(ish) 2D animator it's getting harder and harder to find mentors who are based in the realm of hand drawn vs. 3D CG. I feel like I have so much to learn.

I hope I can ask a few questions regarding drawing/draftsmanship, even though the life drawing class is Sunday. I feel like I have a decent handle on timing and motion, but frankly my drawing skills are pretty terrible. I try to get in 20 minutes - 1 hour of drawing from life (photos) daily. I feel like I need to be drawing 24/7 to make up for my late start. (Wish I had been practicing since I was a teenager instead of wasting time on other stuff.) It seems like I draw and draw and draw without seeing much improvement. Maybe I'm just missing the progress since it's gradual and I see my own work every day.

Anyway, I'm extremely excited about the workshop!

  6. I am from England as well, so it will be a little pricey to travel that far.
But if you ever wanted to visit England, it would be amazing if you could come to our university. Central Saint Martins just opened up their new building at Kings Cross this year and its amazing, i am sure you would love it. It has so much space and so many lovely hardworking people. So if you ever wanted to explore England, please come and visit us.

  9. Are there any age restrictions? I didn't see anything when reading over the official page, but I figured I'd ask just to be sure before considering signing up. Your work is amazing - hope to attend!

  11. hahahaha so many calls of 'come to England' already. Call me a sheep, but I would totally be there if you did. (Envious of all people living in and around canada right now) Hope it goes well anyhow. As well as central saint martins doesnt, I know a great arts university down in Bournemouth that still does traditional 2D animation. Im 100% sure you would be wholeheartedly welcomed by everyone. (And its by the sea).
    :)

  16. Deja, This is a very odd request but do you have an email address? I cannot find any other way to contact you other than in a comment. You don't know me but I need your help. If you haven't already received it, you'll be getting a letter in the mail some time soon that was originally mailed to the Disney Animation Studios from me, Pierce Horvath. In this letter you weren't the only one addressed to receive it. The letter was also to Glen Keane and Mark Henn. As you may know, Glen retired recently so that is why I need your help. If you think you can help me here is my email address: piercesarah88@yahoo.com Thanks!

  23. Hallo Herr Deja,

Hier also noch einmal.
In diesem Jahr bin ich ziemlich beschäftigt, aber vielleicht können
wir einen Besuch zur Schule im nächsten Jahr planen.
Jetzt schaue ich einmal, was ich online über Eure Schule erfahren kann.
      Gruss
      Andreas

    2. Das klingt doch sehr gut!

Hier der Link zur Website der ASH:

      http://animation-school-hamburg.de/willkommen.html

      Basti

  27. Hi Andreas, I'm really inspired by your work and your journey of becoming animator. I have been aware of your work for some years now but it was only just recently I listened to an interview podcast and I would love to be able to speak to you and ask you some questions, as I am in a similar situation as you were in, as I live in the UK. I would really like to ask you your advice.

Please if you could email me at same_sky@hotmail.co.uk I would be very grateful :)

Look forward to hearing from you :) Thank you x
