One More...

Here's another cover idea for my NINE OLD MEN book, designed  by the multi talented Matthieu Saghezchi. I really like this one.
But I totally appreciate your comments about preferring the final cover with my drawing of the Nine.
The publisher preferred it, too.
I was just aiming for a more commercial cover.

  1. Thanks for sharing this other design. Both of Mr. Saghezchi's layouts would have had me grabbing your book off the shelf - as did the final choice. I'm just curious, with innumerable options how did you decide which characters and specific drawings made the cut?

  2. So I noticed on Pinocchio, that almost every character scene is shared with an effects animator or a co-animator.

  3. I really like this design idea. The characters shown would clarify that it is about Disney, but on the other hand not tell why it is called The Nine Old Men...tough choice. Thanks for sharing.

  4. This one is maybe a bit too cartoony. I think this kind of design would suit a book about, say, Ward Kimball's later work.
I think your drawing shows us the PoV of the book. It's about contemporary animators appreciating the 9 old men's efforts.
Also, for anybody who doesn't know who they were, it's clear you're talking about real people
