9 Old Men Exhibit

Just a reminder of this phenomenal exhibition at the Walt Disney Family Museum. It will run until early January. Beautiful, inspiring and occasionally shocking (to realize just how good these guys were.) I believe for animators this is a once in a lifetime experience.
Just look at these drawings!

Woolie Reitherman. This study sheet for El Gaucho Goofy is part of the exhibit. The following images aren't.

  1. Beautiful!
Incidentally, The one by Reitherman is closely modelled upon the art of an argentine artist who worked for Disney. Here´s a link with the original:

  2. Hey Andreas, have you seen the rough POTC sketches up for auction by Van Eaton? The handwriting on one makes make think Marc, but they are the loosest and roughest POTC pre production pose sketches I have ever seen, also some JC work too.

  3. I visited the museum a few weeks ago because of your blog. I would've been very disappointed had I found out later that I had missed it. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

  4. I've always absolutely adored Les Clark's Mickey. Really hoping to make to the museum before this closes.

  5. Thanks for this. Alas no San Fran travel plans this time. Taking the hubby on his first trip to WDW after talking about it for 30 years! Hopefully, there'll be a good exhibit at the EPCOT art festival! Trust you are doing well, Andreas.
