  1. oh YEAH! look at all that attitude and personality!
That's what animation is all about (to me, anyway)

  2. Stunning poses and expressions right here! And when you have Jeremy Irons' powerful voice behind Andreas Deja's fantastic designs, the result is pure dynamite! To me, Scar is the best Disney animated villain by far. :)

    2. Yup! After the epic opening sequence, I can't imagine many better follow-up scenes that establish the kind of character depth that is also present in the film.

  3. Scar's body language stands out for me when I watch the film. Just about every line and movement feels unique and full of personality! He must have been such a fun character to animate!

  4. I was very disappointed with the remake. It was just a carbon copy of a masterpiece. The animation was great, but it felt like a documentary. All the expressions and emotions are gone, the performances as well they just dont translate well to this hyper real style.

Cant imagine how Andreas and all the original crew feel about it. Shame that the 2D department got axed for things like this. We could have great 2D movies today, but sadly it feels like a different company. The Lion King will always be my favorite animated film, no remake will ever change that

  5. What a great, understated post. Extremely expressive drawings... and how do you tell a story if your characters can't emote? Ahem.
I won't be seeing the new Lion King. The original is flawless, nothing in it can be improved. So why bother?

  6. So much animation in just one frame! Your work on Scar is top notch, love the shoulders/head relationship you did on all the shots.

  7. I always felt 2d animation is the heart of Disney.

  8. Tied with Darkwing Duck's Steelbeak, Scar is by far my favorite Disney character. Such a fun, strangely charismatic and flamboyant character and beautifully voiced by Jeremy Irons.
