My designs for the character of Rose. The movie's title was My Peoples. It ran into story issues and was eventually shelved. Rose and her love interest Elgin were going to be traditionally animated, while other characters such as a group of mechanical folklore puppets would appear as CG characters.
I animated some test footage with her, and was looking forward to be working on a female protagonist. She was going to be voiced by actress Ashley Judd.
What a magnificent design. It's Deja's signature. No doubt It's a shame the project was canceled because it would have made for a very compelling and appealing female character. 😍😍😍😍. Your work = Success
ReplyDeleteAh yes, another one of many cases of "What Could Have Been" for Walt Disney Animation. Shame this project never came to fruition, as you did some really nice work designing this character.

ReplyDeleteAwesome. Can you tell us a little about what the story was gonna be about? Is it based off a fairy tale or existing work? Thanks!

DeleteShe looks like a really cool character, Andreas! It's a shame this didn't see the light of day. Disney has really settled into a formula designing their heroines since then... who knows if this would've moved the needle a bit.
ReplyDeleteHello andreas, can you tell me what year you drew the character of the pigeon agent who was supposed to appear in the cartoon violence the great mouse detective
ReplyDeleteLate 1984, early 1985.
DeleteI never heard of 'My Peoples' but now I a really regret never to see Rose coming alive on the animated screen
